September just flew by - didn't it? Before we know it, Christmas will be upon us and then we three (hopefully) will be heading to Mississippi.
Did I just say that out loud?! or should I say 'write that out loud?'
Yes, yes I did. Will has gotten his internship assignment and will be working in Mississippi. I feel like we're announcing his mission call for some reason. Except for we hope to go as a family instead of just sending him away. And we will be there one year, not two like missionaries. I digress. Anyway, we'll be, more specifically, in Biloxi. At the Keesler Air Force Base. AKA: the ocean.
It will be unlike anything I have ever experienced, and I'm sure Will has a few new things headed his way, too. As for Emerson, his first words might be laced with a southern accent. Time will tell I guess.
Now, as for when we'll know for sure whether we get to go as a family or not, plan on later rather than sooner. We are waiting to hear from FAFSA regarding funding for the school, so right now the future of 2012 for me and Emerson lies in the hands of the fafsa people.
At the very least, we are ecstatic. We can't wait for a new adventure together. We can't wait for the climate change. We can't wait to make new friends and work with some stellar professionals. We can't wait to get a hold of some good jumbalaya (New Orleans is a mere two hours away).
Life right now consists of work for me, work for Will (his first internship at a local hospital is halfway over and he is excelling there) , and work for Emerson (trying to grow out of his 3rd percentile weight and 9th percentile length). Any tips for how to survive the humidity will be greatly appreciated.

I'm so excited for you guys and I hope beyond all hope that all 3 of you can go together. As for surviving the humidity, that's really all you can do is survive (read: endure). It's miserable, BUT there are some definite perks...when I lived with it I never had to use lotion or chapstick and I had a good excuse for not attempting to style my hair. It was great.
ReplyDeleteCongrats to Will!! How exciting is all of this? Life doesn't get better than living right on the ocean right? I love that you posted the map illustrating right where the internship will be - fun!
ReplyDeleteWe were excited that we now live 5 hours away from New Orleans so I bet 2 feels even better.
I have kind of started loving the humidity in Texas - but we're like an hour away from the ocean so it's probably not as strong as what you'll be enjoying... I found a hair product I really like that seems to help with the frizz. It's called Agadir Argan Oil - it's like $20 on Amazon but a bottle will last you two years. It's the generic version of Morrocan oil - I've never bought that because it's super pricey so I don't know how it compares... But I know that I love the Argan oil stuff. I just rub a few drops into my hair after I shower, and then sometimes after I style my hair too.
